Woodlore: Discover the Seasons and Stories of the Forest

A Beautiful Nature Book About the Seasons, Woodland Life, and Folklore

Woodlore invites children to follow the forest through an entire year, noticing what changes, what returns, and what each season brings. Beginning with the new growth and birdsong of spring and continuing through summer, autumn, and winter, the book blends woodland nature study with seasonal stories, traditions, and folklore.

Children will encounter wildflowers, birds, butterflies, seeds, trees, woodland animals, and other signs of the changing seasons. Alongside the natural history are stories and traditions connected with the rhythm of the year, including May Day, the equinoxes, and the solstices.

Follow the Turning Year Through the Forest

Organized around the changing seasons, Woodlore gives children a closer look at the plants, animals, traditions, and folklore connected with each part of the year. The book moves from spring growth and birdsong through summer wildlife, autumn harvests, and the quieter rhythms of winter.

Its combination of nature study and seasonal traditions makes it a useful companion for homeschool lessons, nature walks, seasonal celebrations, and family reading. Children can explore the book from beginning to end or return to individual sections as the year unfolds.

With detailed illustrations and a broad mix of natural history and folklore, Woodlore works especially well for children who enjoy forests, wildlife, seasonal changes, and learning how people have marked the turning year.
